Summer of '09

In my previous blog, I had mentioned the array of events that marked the prelude of this summer. I had decided to stay back in IIT for a couple of weeks to look for some damn project. In fact, there were plenty of students who thought this way. Life wasn't going to be easy but to our surprise, we had a pretty cool summer. I owe my heartfelt thanks to the RAIN GODS, without whom it would have been too hot to handle.
While IPL2 was nerve-racking, Fake IPL Player's legendary blogs brought laughs all around. Girls really need to read FIP's blogs to improve their sense of humor. :P
Finally, I can't resist to mention a couple of friends, without whom, I could have never watched "Man vs Wild" without multitasking.

Anyways, the masti part was over and I had to go for an industrial training at SAIL Durgapur next. On the first day, we got a tremendously boring lecture on accidents and safety. It requires a great amount of will-power to take a 90 minutes' lecture to teach the definition of "accidents" to 2nd and 3rd year engineering students. How can someone? But excluding this part, the internship was very exciting. I hardly had any work to do: just needed to visit the plant for a couple of hours daily. This is what I like about government jobs. PSUs rock! Anyways it clashed with my interests, which led me to quit just after a couple of weeks.

What next? I still had a month and a half left to spend at home. I had decided to maaro peace for the rest of the vacation no matter what happened. I met a lot of relatives after a long time and we had a lot of fun together. I'd probably rate this as one of my best holidays. But, many people at IIT believe something valuable needs to be done every now and then. You can't just... just waste time. I hate them. My answer to them: I learnt to ride bikes. I heaved a sigh of huge relief as it was really embarrasing being a 20-year old unable to ride a bike. Finally, those 45 days seemed really small. I wonder if I could stay at home forever.

Finally it was time to return to IIT, with a bundle of hopes and plans to make life legen...dary.

P.S. : Life isn't that bad at IIT as my blogs seem to depict. Its probably better than most other guys would be having if the "girl factor" is ignored. Anyways, I'm enjoying it.

P.P.S. : This blog isn't meant with a purpose. Aiwayi likha hai! Thanks for reading!
3rd year begins! :)
adios!

Three contrasting days...

Huh, where should I start from? Let's start with a day before yesterday. My exams were over although it didn't finish on a good note. Set aside the latter part, I was happy that it was over. At the same time, I was feeling bad as friends were leaving for the two-month vacation. Some were going for internships while others back to their homes to enjoy the vacation. There were mixed feelings within me. That night, I was thinking how bad will it feel when we'd leave this place two years later. No matter how much we curse this place, friends are friends.

Yesterday was legendary. Good marks, a good grade, a good presentation and most importantly the feeling of going home was truly awesome. I slept late and early in the morning today, I received a call regarding the cancellation of my internship. (Early in the morning implies 10'o clock.) This meant I have to stay back to do some boring project here. I am feeling really bad today. Some friends are going to Germany or other parts of Europe or at least good places in India while others are going home. I am caught between the two: in the scorching heat of KGP.

It has really been a tough time this year. There are many things that have changed but nothing is worth feeling good about. I wouldn't like to mention those as I'm tired. Anyways this post was just an ode to a loser. There is a long vacation ahead and I wish you have a really good time wherever you are.

To talk about me, I would take my time thinking of new PJs to annoy people in the next semester. So, to end it with a self-composed poem enchanting the words of several IITians here:

"Had I been smart enough to impress someone
Had I been open enough to talk to someone
Had I been rich enough to afford one
Had I been humorous enough to tolerate one
Had I been patient enough to listen to one
Had I been emotional enough to understand someone

I could have boasted of having one.
There are some things in life a nerd can't buy.
For everything else, an IITian is enough."

P.S.:"Humorous" here was ironical.

Another glorious year passes by...

What should I say? It has been a very long time since I wrote my previous blog. So, with rejuvenated spirits, I just thought of scribbling a bit on the page. Life has changed a lot these days. Having left behind the same old frustration, I have realized that there are still many things to feel good about. I am still an 8-pointer ("atthi + delta" to be precise), though the delta part has significantly reduced itself in the previous semester and is expected to rise again in this semester. The previous semester was like a nightmare although the concluding part wasn't that ugly. I had finally managed to get into a society but being in it feels good only to those who aren't in it. The experience was short-lived as I always preferred peace. And hence I have started doing things that interest me.

To talk about cricket, it was a pleasure watching India play in NZ. The winter of 02-03 is still afresh when I used to get up at 3 a.m. to watch the game. I rarely watch cricket now but it still fantasizes me. Although the Indian blue-llies emerged victorious most of the time, I felt the excitement of the game dying down. Of course, I love to see India win but not on every occasion. Set aside the older version, the much-awaited second season of IPL isn’t far away.

In the meantime, my journey in the sophomore year at IIT is going to end soon. Another year passes by; now we are soon-to-be 3rd years: considered GODS at IIT. An internship is lined-up for the two-month vacation. Not so excited about that: couldn’t make it to foreign this year but anyways “chalta hai, proper funda nahi tha”. Don’t worry Europe: I’ll surely be there next time.

Some things I have realised of late:

1) Appearances are deceptive. Some things appear to be like a mirage. They aren’t as simple as they seem to be. There is poltu present everywhere. Hai ya nahi, batao?

2) My attitude sucks. It takes me years to be frank with someone. Can a shy kinda guy ever impress someone?

3) I’m a great learner: took to learning PJs and I have mastered it. Yo Barnie, Baba, SN, Rahul! So, beware!

Reference : Ashutosh (huii).

4) 2nd year is not as loaded as it was supposed to be. The presence of an an awesome group of friends and a GODLY wing made life easier.

5) It is not necessary to be a maggu in order to get good marks in exams.

6) Finally, a rockstar living beside our room has significantly manipulated our taste of music. Now we’re also into head-banging although our hairs are shedding.

Yo 2nd years!

Comments aren’t expected but feel free to write.
